The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission (TGERC), on January 17, 2026, notified the Licensee’s Duty for Supply of Electricity on Request (Second Amendment) Regulation, 2026, amending Regulation No. 4 of 2013 to simplify and expedite the release of LT service connections and additional loads in electrified areas by introducing uniform, load-based service line charges. The amendment aims to avoid individual site inspections and case-by-case cost estimations.
The Regulation prescribes standardised Service Line Charges (Rs./kW) for new LT connections and additional load applications through overhead lines within a 1 km radius of the electrified network, across LT categories including Domestic, Commercial, Industries, Cottage Industries, Agriculture, and EV Charging Stations. For apartments, commercial complexes, and multi-storied buildings, combined contracted load will apply. The Distribution Licensee will supply, erect, own, and maintain the Distribution Transformer for connections covered under the proviso, without charging its cost.
Further, Clause 8.3 has been substituted to clarify recovery of transformer costs where dedicated transformers are provided outside the proviso’s scope, while rationalising Development Charges based on contracted load thresholds. The Commission has also empowered itself to issue implementation directions and amend the Regulation as required. The amendment takes effect from its publication in the Telangana Gazette.
