The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) on January 27, 2026, invited Stakeholder comments on notification proposing to rescind the Notification S.O. 1767 dated May 27, 1963, issued under section 406 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
In this regard, a draft notification proposing to rescind the aforesaid notification has been prepared by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and is placed for stakeholder comments prior to its finalization and publication in the Official Gazette.
All Stakeholders are requested to examine the draft notification and submit their views. comments and suggestions, if any. To ensure consolidation of responses and to avoid duplication, stakeholders are encouraged to route their comments through their respective industry associations, wherever applicable.
