The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on January 14, 2026, issued the Draft Indian Boiler Regulations, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•These regulations shall apply to all boilers, including those working on the principles of natural circulation, forced circulation, and forced flow with no fixed steam and water line.
•Boilers must be manufactured under the supervision of a Competent Person with inspections at all prescribed stages.
•All materials, tubes, and steam pipes must be tested and inspected at the manufacturer’s works.
•Welding must be carried out only by certified welders holding valid Form-II certificates.
•Manufacturers must have adequate machinery, testing, heat treatment, and hydraulic testing facilities.
•Recognised boiler manufacturers must maintain proper quality assurance systems and comply with prescribed codes and inspection procedures.
Any Objections or suggestions may be submitted within 30 days from January 27, 2026.
