The Ministry of External Affairs (MoEA) on January 23, 2026, issued the Prevention and Suppression of Terrorism (Implementation of Security Council Resolutions) Amendment Order, 2026, further to amend the Prevention and Suppression of Terrorism (Implementation of Security Council Resolutions) Order, 2007.
This shall come into force from January 23, 2026.
The following has been stated:
• The amendment order primarily updates India’s domestic implementation of UN Security Council sanctions by revising the Schedule of designated individuals linked to terrorism.
• The amendment substitutes updated entries for several individuals in Annexure-I, reflecting revised identities, aliases, nationality details, affiliations, and review status in line with the latest UN Security Council listings, omits certain delisted individuals, and retains only currently sanctioned persons.
• These changes ensure that India’s sanctions framework remains fully aligned with updated UN Security Council resolutions, thereby strengthening enforcement of asset freezing, travel bans, and arms embargoes against listed terrorists.
