The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on January 29, 2026, amended an older Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) dated August 03, 2001, related to Customs Tariff Values for key Commodities.
The following has been stated: -
•The CBIC has amended Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) by substituting updated tariff value tables.
•Tariff values for palm oil, palmolein, soybean oil, and brass scrap remain unchanged.
•Gold tariff value is fixed at USD 1709 per 10 grams, and silver at USD 3545 per kilogram, with no change.
•Tariff value for areca nuts is also retained at USD 7679 per metric tonne.
This notification shall come into force with effect from January 30, 2026.
