The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on January 30, 2026, issued the Draft Central Motor Vehicles (….. Amendment) Rules, 2025, further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
The following has been stated: -
•In rule 81, in the TABLE: - i. In serial number (11A), the entries at S.No. (2) in (d) and (e) shall be substituted.
•Serial No. 11A is amended to revise fees for older vehicles.
•For medium goods/passenger motor vehicles aged over 13 years but not exceeding 15 years, the fee is fixed at ₹2,500.
The same age bracket and fee of ₹2,500 is prescribed for heavy goods/passenger motor vehicles. These substitutions apply under Rule 62(2).
Objections and suggestions to these draft rules can be submitted within 30 days.
