The Weights and Measures Department, Government of Delhi, on January 28, 2026, issued the Delhi Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Amendment Rules, 2026, to further amend the Delhi Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011.
The following has been stated, namely:-
• Schedule-XI shall be substituted as under:
• Section and nature of offence:- Section 8(3). Use of weight, measure or numeration other than the Standard weight, measure or numeration.
• Penal Section:- Section 25. Penalty for use of Non-Standard weight or measure.
• Compounding fee:-
• For hawkers/ non-permanent establishment- ₹ 500/-
• Retailer- ₹ 5,000/-
• Wholesale dealer- ₹ 10,000/-
• Manufacturer/Packer/Importer - ₹ 25,000/-
• Petroleum Industry (Retail Outlets/Tank Lorries/Storage Depos etc.)- ₹ 50,000/-
• Others (Government Organizations/PSUs/Cooperative Societies/Banks etc.)- ₹ 25,000/-
