The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) on January 30, 2026, notified regarding extension for upload of KYC records with KRA.
A sample comparison of PANs of Demat account holders with PANs available with KRAs revealed that several Depository Participants (DPs) have not complied with point no. 84 of the SEBI circular dated October 12, 2023. Non-upload of KYC details with KRAs is a violation of the requirements prescribed in the said circular.
As per CDSL communique no. CDSL/OPS/DP/POLCY/2025/856 dated December 29, 2025, CDSL received representations from DPs seeking an extension of timelines to comply with the requirements. Considering these representations, the compliance timeline has been extended to April 03, 2026.
DPs are advised to ensure that the KYCs of all non-closed clients are uploaded with the KRAs and that only clients with a KRA status of “KYC Registered” or “KYC Validated” are permitted to transact. This is necessary to ensure seamless interoperability across market participants and to avoid inconvenience to investors.
DPs are requested to prioritize the uploading and validation/registration of all pending KYC records of non-closed Demat account holders with KRAs without any further delay.
