The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on January 30, 2026, enforced the new standards for Meat Sausages notified under Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) First Amendment Regulations, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Subsequent to the issuance of the final notification, several representations were received from the meat industry highlighting technical and practical challenges in complying with the new standards for the preparation of meat sausages, along with requests for extension of the compliance timeline for these standards.
• After due consideration of the representations received from the Food Business Operators (FBOs), it has been decided to extend the compliance period for the standards of Meat Sausages by a further period of three months from 1st February, 2026.
