Labour ComplianceThe Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE) on January 29, 2026, notified regarding the Social Security for Gig and Platform Workers.

The following has been stated:

• The Government has strengthened social security for gig and platform workers through the e-Shram portal, which registers unorganised workers and issues a Universal Account Number (UAN).

• An Aggregator Module was launched to onboard major digital platforms, while the Code on Social Security, 2020, now formally defines gig and platform workers and provides for welfare schemes and a Social Security Fund. 

• Recognising rapid workforce growth, the Budget 2025–26 announced registration on e-Shram, ID cards, and Ayushman Bharat health coverage, supported by nationwide registration drives and stakeholder consultations.
