The Ministry of Coal (MoC), on January 28, 2026, issued an amendment to the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Central Government hereby makes the following further amendments in the First Schedule to the said Act, namely:-
• In The First Schedule, PART A, in item 1, for the word "Coal", the words shall be substituted With:- "Coal, including Coking Coal".
• In The First Schedule, PART D, after item 3 and the entry relating thereto, the following item shall be inserted, namely:- "3A. Coking Coal.".
