Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on February 01, 2026, issued a circular regarding the introduction of system-based e-scheduling for examination of cargo and mandatory use of Body Worn Cameras (BWC) during examination of import cargo.

The following has been stated: -

•The Board has introduced mandatory use of Body Worn Cameras (BWC) during physical examination of import cargo to enhance transparency and create a digital audit trail.

•BWC usage will be implemented across all Customs formations on or before April 01, 2026, with recordings retained for 2 years or till case closure.

•A new E-Scheduling of Cargo Examination system on ICEGATE 2.0, piloted at ICD Tughlakabad, enables online scheduling, rescheduling, and real-time status tracking.

•These measures build on earlier reforms issued on March 07, 2023, August 20, 2024, and December 30, 2025, to improve ease of doing business and efficiency.
