The Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh on January 22, 2026, notified regarding the Constitution of District-Level Selection Committees for Appointment of Support Persons under POCSO in Himachal Pradesh.
The following has been stated:
• In compliance with the binding directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and statutory guidelines issued by the NCPCR under the POCSO Act, the Governor of Himachal Pradesh has ordered the constitution of a District-Level Selection Committee in every district for selecting and empanelling Support Persons for child victims.
• The Committee, comprising judicial, administrative, child welfare, and subject-matter experts, will ensure a transparent, fair, and child-centric selection process through interviews, assessment, and due diligence.
• A quorum of three members is mandated, with compulsory representation from key authorities such as the District Magistrate, CWC Chairperson, or Special POCSO Judge.
• The engagement terms and operational details of Support Persons will be notified separately, and the order will operate in harmony with existing laws and judicial directions.
