Labour ComplianceThe Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) on February 02, 2026, notified regarding the repeal of certain Labour Laws upon enforcement of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.

The following has been stated:

The Industrial Relations Code, 2020, empowers the Central Government to notify the date from which its provisions come into force and to repeal specified existing labour laws. Exercising this power, the Ministry of Labour and Employment had earlier notified November 21, 2025, as the date of commencement of the Code. Through this subsequent notification, issued in partial modification of the earlier one, the Central Government clarifies that the following acts stand repealed with effect from November 21, 2025:

o Trade Unions Act, 1926, 

o Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946, and

o Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 

• Accordingly, from that date, matters relating to industrial relations are governed exclusively by the provisions of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.
