Labour ComplianceThe Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), on February 02, 2026, issued a notification regarding approval of the PM-SETU scheme to upgrade ITIs and Strengthen Employability.

The following has been stated: -

•The PM-SETU scheme aims to enhance the quality, relevance, and industry alignment of vocational training across ITIs and NSTIs through modern infrastructure, updated courses, and strong industry linkages.

•It has two components: upgradation of 1,000 Government ITIs under a Hub-and-Spoke model, and capacity augmentation of five NSTIs with sector-specific National Centres of Excellence.

•Implementation is industry-led, with States/UTs selecting ITIs and submitting proposals; national and state steering committees have been constituted to guide and monitor the scheme.

•In the pilot phase, Maharashtra has identified clusters in Pune, Nagpur, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, while Bihar has identified Patna and Darbhanga, with industry RFPs to be issued.
