The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), on February 02, 2026, notified regarding the Hydrogen Gas Cylinders Cascade mounted on the chassis of a vehicle for transportation of Hydrogen by Road.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The transportation of Hydrogen gas cylinder cascades does not require any licence under Gas Cylinders Rules 2016. However, the cylinders used in the cascade shall be PESO-approved, and a license in Form E&F is essential for the filling and storage of compressed gas in these cascades. Further, a License in Form D is necessary for the import of such gas cylinders.
• As per Rule 2(xxxib), Hydrogen storage system means part of a closed system used for retaining hydrogen in gaseous or liquid form upstream of the source valve and includes a cylinder or gas cylinder cascade.
