Industry Specific ComplianceThe Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) on January 23, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Implementation and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for 24x7 Seafarers Facilitation Counter at T2 Airport, Mumbai, during the Pilot Phase.

The following has been stated namely: -

• A 24x7 Seafarers Facilitation Counter has been established at Terminal 2, Mumbai Airport, on a pilot basis, to provide real-time assistance, guidance, documentation support, and grievance handling for seafarers during international travel.

• Adherence to a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been mandated for the functioning of the Pranam Seafarers Assistance Counter, issued in coordination with SWFS, UK Commission, and seafarers’ unions.

• UK-bound seafarers must mandatorily report to the Facilitation Counter and obtain clearance before airport entry, while non-UK-bound seafarers are encouraged (optional) to approach the counter for assistance during the pilot phase.
