Commercial ComplianceThe Government of Tripura, on February 02, 2026, notified the Tripura Legal Metrology (Enforcement) (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Tripura Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011.

The following has been stated: -

•Rule 11 is substituted, Licensing of manufacturers, repairers, and dealers to be done online, with online fee payment, prescribed forms, licence display requirements, and non-transferability of licences.

•Rule 12 is amended Controller may suspend licences for false statements or violations after giving an opportunity of hearing; suspension lapses if the inquiry is not completed within 3 months.

•Rule 13 omitted; Rule 14 amended to prescribe the notified procedure for verification and stamping of weights and measures; Rule 17 amended to allow recovery of fee shortfalls.

•Schedule II-A revised: New Form-LM-1 introduced detailing updated application requirements for manufacturer licences under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.

•They shall come into force on February 02, 2026.
