Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Cooperation, Govt. of Punjab on February 02, 2026, issued an amendment to the older notification no. S.O.2/P.A.25/1961/S.38/2026, dated January 12, 2026, related to stamp duty and registration of properties of co-operative housing societies.

The following has been stated:

• The Punjab Government has rationalised earlier notifications on stamp duty and registration of properties of co-operative housing societies to remove anomalies and ensure uniform treatment. Members whose names appeared in society records as of November 20, 2025, are entitled to register one conveyance/transfer deed without paying stamp duty or other statutory levies, and need to pay only 1% registration fee, subject to a maximum of ₹2 lakh.

• This concession applies irrespective of the date of registration and can extend to the member, spouse, dependent children, legal heirs, or specified blood relatives.

• All earlier time-linked concessional schemes stand withdrawn, and any subsequent transfer to non-eligible persons will attract normal stamp duty and charges as per prevailing law.
