The following has been stated: -

•TRAI notified the Seventh Amendment Regulations, 2026, to strengthen the audit framework, accountability, and infrastructure sharing provisions in broadcasting and cable services.

•Key changes include financial year–based audits, defined timelines, and mandatory submission of audit reports by 30 September annually.

•Measures introduced to reduce repetitive audits, allow broadcaster participation, and enable additional audits where discrepancies arise.

•Small distributors (below 30,000 subscribers) get optional annual audits, aiming to reduce costs, improve transparency, and enhance ease of doing business.
