The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), on January 01, 2026, issued the date of withdrawal of Indian standards particulars related to Reference Materials.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The modification in the revised ISS includes the location of the warning, which may require manufacturers to revise their existing packaging labels and modifications in the requirements of some varieties of toys.
• In view of the above, as licensees are likely to face difficulties in conforming to the revised ISS immediately, the concurrent running of IS 9873 (Part 1):2019 and IS 9873 (Part 1):2025- “Safety of Toys Part 1 Safety Aspects Related to Mechanical and Physical Properties” has now been extended up to 22nd MARCH 2027.
