The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (MoC&F) on February 06, 2026, issued a notification regarding the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).
The following has been stated: -
•PMBJP aims to provide affordable quality generic medicines through Jan Aushadhi Kendras, offering drugs 50–80% cheaper than branded alternatives.
•The scheme covers over 2,110 medicines and 315 medical consumables across major therapeutic categories.
•Awareness initiatives include campaigns, Jan Aushadhi Week, social media outreach, chatbots, and rural engagement programmes.
•The Government targets expanding the network to 20,000 Kendras nationwide by March 31, 2026, without state-wise targets.
