The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on February 06, 2026, notified regarding the implementation of NPCI-based Workflow for Bank Account Validation in IEC Applications and Modifications.
The following has been stated:
• It has integrated its IEC system with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) from February 2026 to enable real-time validation of bank account details provided during IEC issuance and modification. This follows earlier API-based validation of IEC-related details and aims to ensure the authenticity of IEC-linked bank accounts and strengthen the digital trade facilitation framework.
• Under the revised process, applicants shall declare all active bank accounts linked to their PAN and ensure that the PAN, name, and bank account details match bank records. The submitted bank details will be validated through NPCI, and the status may be “Success,” “In Progress,” or “Failed.”
• If validation is successful, the application proceeds normally. Where validation is “In Progress,” the application is placed under automatic review and approved upon successful validation; however, it may be rejected or marked deficient if validation ultimately fails. If the validation status is “Failed” for any bank account, the application (for both new IEC and modification) cannot be submitted until the correct details are provided. The system will periodically update “In Progress” statuses.
• Stakeholders are advised to verify bank details and PAN linkage before submission, and report issues through the DGFT Helpdesk.
