The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) on February 06, 2026, issued the Update on Tele-MANAS.
The following has been stated:
• The Government of India provided an update on Tele-MANAS, its national tele-mental health programme. As of February 02, 2026, 53 Tele-MANAS Cells have been established across 36 States and Union Territories to provide mental health counselling and support. The services are now available in 20 languages based on state preferences, and the helpline has handled over 32.84 lakh calls since inception.
• The Tele-MANAS Mobile Application, launched on World Mental Health Day (October 10, 2024), offers comprehensive support for mental well-being and disorders. The app has been expanded to include 10 additional regional languages and features accessibility support for visually challenged users via a toll-free phone line that does not require screen use.
• In addition, a video consultation facility has been introduced alongside the existing audio facility, and a dedicated Tele-MANAS Cell has been set up at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune to support armed forces personnel and their families. A WHO India rapid assessment report on Tele-MANAS’s performance and reach has also been published.
