Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on February 05, 2026, notified the Central Motor Vehicles (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

The following has been stated: -

•The amendment to Rule 115 adds AIS-175 as an additional applicable test document along with TAP Documents 115 & 116 and AIS-137. 

•It also introduces a new clause (iA) prescribing BS-VI emission standards based on the WLTP test cycle. These norms will apply to M1 vehicles and M2 vehicles with a GVW up to 3500 kg. 

•The revised emission standards will become mandatory for all such vehicle models manufactured on or after April 01, 2027.

They shall come into force on February 07, 2026.
