The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAH&D) on February 04, 2026, notified the amendments to the Hatcheries and Farms for Seed Production and Culture of Indigenous Shrimp in Marine and Brackishwater Guidelines, 2025.
The following has been stated:
• In the opening paragraph, the words "both" and "P. Monodon," shall be omitted.
• After the opening paragraph, an Explanation shall be inserted - "Explanation: for the purposes of this notification, "indigenous shrimp" includes P. monodon for which specific pathogen free domesticated stocks are already available in the country. The aquaculture of P. monodon shall strictly be practiced as per the ‘Guidelines for the establishment and operation of Nucleus Breeding Centres and Broodstock Multiplication Centres in India’ issued vide notification number S.O. 1459(E) dated 15th March, 2024."
• For the word "broodstock" wherever it occurs, the words "wild stock" shall be substituted.
• In PART-1, in paragraph 7, in sub-paragraph (7), the words "Aquatic Quarantine Facility laboratory at Neelankarai or" shall be omitted.
This notification shall come into force from February 07, 2026.
