The Central Marks Department-II (CMD) on January 30, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Extension of the period of concurrent running of IS 9873 (Part 1) : 2019 and IS 9873 (Part 1) : 2025 - “Safety of Toys Part 1 Safety Aspects Related to Mechanical and Physical Properties – Specification”
The following has been stated namely: -
• The IS 9873 (Part 1): 2019 was revised to IS 9873 (Part 1): 2025
• The modification in the revised ISS includes location of warning which may requires manufacturers to revised their existing packaging labels and modification in the requirements of some varieties of toys.
• The concurrent running of IS 9873 (Part 1):2019 and IS 9873 (Part 1):2025- “Safety of Toys Part 1 Safety Aspects Related to Mechanical and Physical Properties” has now been extended up to March 22, 2027.
