DGFT notified regarding Streamlining of the Halal Certification Process for Meat and Meat Products

Commercial ComplianceThe Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), on February 09, 2026, notified regarding Streamlining of the Halal Certification Process for Meat and Meat Products.

The following has been stated:-

• The compliance requirements under the "India Conformity Assessment Scheme (I-CAS)- Halal" for the additional countries listed above shall come into effect as follows:

• For all the above countries except Egypt: Effect after a transition period of two (02) weeks from the date of this notification. 

• For Egypt: Effect after a period of six (06) months from the date of this notification, to facilitate system readiness and onboarding of certification bodies. 

• All other policy conditions, including the requirement for certification by NABCB-accredited bodies and compliance with importing country regulations as per Notification No. 34/2024-25, remain unchanged. 

• Effect of this notification: Twenty (20) additional countries are added to the list of notified countries for mandatory Halal Certification under the i-CAS framework for specified Meat and Meat products.
