Commercial ComplianceThe Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) on February 13, 2026, issued a notification regarding the MSME exemption introduced in Multiple BIS Quality Control Orders.

The following has been stated: -

•The Central Government has amended multiple Quality Control Orders under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, in the public interest.

•The amendments introduce a uniform exemption for certain MSMEs registered on the Udyam Portal.

•Enterprises with investment up to ₹1 crore and turnover up to ₹5 crore (certified by a Chartered Accountant) are exempt from these QCO requirements.

•The changes apply across products like lighters, bottles, welding rods, fans, furniture, etc., and came into force on February 13, 2026.
