Commercial ComplianceThe Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on February 3, 2026, issued a notification under Sub-rule (1) of Rule 15 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, notifying the establishment of revised Indian Standards as detailed in the Schedule annexed to the notification (Ref: HQ-PUB013/1/2020-PUB-BIS (1420)).

The notification establishes revised versions of multiple standards including IS 10322 (various parts and sections relating to luminaires), IS 16102 (Parts 1 and 2 relating to self-ballasted LED lamps for general lighting services), and IS 16614 (Part 1 relating to double-capped LED linear lamps). Most of these standards have been issued as First or Second Revisions and are aligned with corresponding IEC standards. The new standards came into effect on February 02, 2026.

The earlier versions of the corresponding standards shall remain in force concurrently until August 02, 2026, after which they will stand withdrawn, except where specifically mentioned as not applicable. This transition period allows stakeholders to align with the updated technical and safety requirements.
