Industry Specific ComplianceThe Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MSERC), on November 28, 2025, issued the Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (Conduct of Business) (First Amendment) (4 of 2025) Regulations, 2007, to amend the Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (Conduct of Business) Regulations, 2007.

The following has been stated: -

•The amendment introduces a definition of “Hearing,” revises quorum requirements (generally two Members, with provision for one in specified circumstances), and clarifies that vacancies do not invalidate proceedings.

•It strengthens transparency in tariff matters by mandating newspaper publication, website posting of petitions, and empowering the Commission to invite public comments.

•The Regulations also expand procedural flexibility by enabling electronic service of notices, clarifying signing of orders, preserving inherent powers, and granting authority to amend proceedings, remove difficulties, relax provisions, and extend timelines.

They shall come into force on November 28, 2025.
