•The Meghalaya Private Medical Institution, Including Institutes Under Private University (Regulation of Admission, Fixation of Fees and Reservation) Bill, 2025, seeks to regulate admissions, fee structures, and reservation policies in private medical institutions across the State.
•It mandates a transparent and merit-based admission process, generally aligned with national eligibility standards such as NEET.
•The Bill provides for a regulatory mechanism to determine and approve fee structures to prevent profiteering and ensure affordability.
•It also enforces applicable reservation policies for eligible categories as per State and Central norms.
•The legislation aims to promote fairness, transparency, and accountability in private medical education while safeguarding student interests.
