The Government of Tripura, on February 13, 2026, issued the Tripura Ease of Doing Business Ordinance, 2026, to amend certain enactments to further enhance trust-based governance for ease of living and doing business.
The following has been stated: -
•The Ordinance amends multiple Tripura laws, including the Tripura Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act, 1960, allowing land diversion through self-declaration without prior approval, subject to safeguards.
•It relaxes working hour restrictions and revises penalties under the Tripura Shops and Establishments Act, 1970, and eases licensing norms under the Tripura Municipal Act, 1994.
•Single Point of Contact mechanisms are introduced for construction and healthcare approvals to ensure time-bound clearances.
•Major reforms are made to the Tripura Clinical Establishment Act, 2018, establishing District Registering Authorities, online registration systems, and structured oversight mechanisms.
It shall come into force at once.
