Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Tamil Nadu, on January 24, 2026, issued an amendment to the Tamil Nadu Minor Ports Harbour Craft Rules, 1953.

The following has been stated: -

•Rule 25(1) is substituted to prescribe revised fees for survey, registration, licensing, inspection, and endorsement of change of tindals for harbour crafts.

•The fee structure is categorised separately for harbour crafts (other than canoes and shoe dhonies), canoes and shoe dhonies, and catamarans plying for hire.

•Charges are specified for first-time survey and registration, annual and special inspections, re-measurement, change of ownership, duplicate licence, and change of tindal.

•No fee is charged for amending a licence or register, and an annual inspection fee applies only for the year in which the vessel is licensed to ply.
