The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG) on February 17, 2026, issued a notification regarding direction for the sale of 20% Ethanol Blended Petrol (E20) with RON 95.
The following has been stated: -
•In supersession of its 2021 notification, the Central Government, under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, has directed oil companies to supply Ethanol Blended Motor Spirit (up to 20% ethanol) conforming to Bureau of Indian Standards specifications with a minimum RON of 95 across States and Union Territories.
•The Government may permit deviations in special circumstances for specified regions and periods, subject to BIS RON standards.
This notification shall come into force on April 01, 2026.
