Labour ComplianceThe Government of Rajasthan, on February 17, 2026, notified the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Bill, 2026, further to amend the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958.

The following has been stated: -

•The amendment to the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958, increases the minimum age of an apprentice from 12 to 14 years.

•Daily working hours are increased from 9 to 10 hours, and the annual overtime limit is raised from 50 to 144 hours.

•Age references in provisions relating to children and young persons are revised from 12–15 years to 14–18 years, and weekly working limits are adjusted.

•The Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 (Ordinance No. 3 of 2025) is repealed, with actions taken under it saved and validated.

It shall be deemed to have come into force on and from December 17, 2025.
