The General Administration & Protocol, Government of Lakshadweep, on February 17, 2026, notified regarding the Declaration of Wednesday as "No Vehicle Day".
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Union Territory of Lakshadweep Administration hereby declares Wednesday of every week as "No Vehicle Day" for all the Islands of Lakshadweep. On this day (i.e., Wednesday of every week) no motor vehicles (including vehicles of all types, except those being used by person with disabilities, for security and emergency medical purposes) shall be permitted for plying in the roads. Violating vehicles shall be fined an amount of Rs. 500/-.
• The above measure is being implemented to promote the health of the Islanders by promoting walking/cycling and reducing pollution from emissions from motor vehicles. All concerned are requested to cooperate and ensure compliance with this order.
• This shall come into effect from February 25, 2026, onwards.
