The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), on February 18, 2026, issued the extension of the period of concurrent running of IS 15449 (Part 1): 2004 and IS 15449 (Part 1): 2024- “Household Zig-zag sewing Machines”.
The following has been stated namely: -
• IS 15449 (Part 1): 2004 was revised as IS 15449 (Part 1): 2024. The guidelines for implementation of the above-mentioned revision was circulated vide note no. CMD-3/16: IS 15449 (Part 1) dated 27 January 2025. The last date of implementation of the revised Standard was 12 May 2025, which was extended till 12 February 2026, as informed vide CMD-3/16: IS 15449 (Part 1) dated 04 Aug 2025.
• In view of the requests received from manufacturers, the concurrent running of IS 15449 (Part 1): 2004 and IS 15449 (Part 1): 2024 and the last date of implementation of IS 15449 (Part 1): 2024 has now further been extended up to 12 August 2026. All BOs may bring it to the notice of all Licensees and Applicants and ensure implementation of revised Standard by 12 August 2026.
• All Branch Offices are requested to inform the same to the Licensees / Applicants under their jurisdiction and ensure the implementation of IS 15449 (Part 1): 2024 by August 12, 2026.
