The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on February 10, 2026, notified regarding the extension of the period of concurrent running of IS 6218:2008 and IS 6218:2025- “Bicycles — Mudguard”.
The BIS has extended the period of concurrent validity of the old and revised standard for IS 6218: “Bicycles — Mudguard” (old 2008 version and new 2025 version). The extension allows manufacturers and licence-holders to continue compliance with both versions simultaneously and mandates that full implementation of IS 6218:2025 be completed by January 24, 2027, as approved by the competent authority and communicated to all regional and branch offices for dissemination to licensees/applicants.
