The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), on February 17, 2026, issued the Draft Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) (First Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2025.
The following has been stated: -
•The amendment revises the enabling clause to state that the rules are made under sections 11, 12, 19, 30, 32, and 33 of the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024.
•It also declares that these rules supersede the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2017, except for actions already taken or omitted before such supersession.
Any objection or suggestion may be submitted within 15 days from February 19, 2026.
