The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on March 06, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Compliance Requirements for Enabling 5925-6425 MHz Band under Revised Regulatory Framework.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The 5925–6425 MHz frequency band has been exempted from licensing requirements, subject to compliance with specified technical and operational conditions.
• Some equipment models received Equipment Type Approval (ETA) earlier with the 5925–6425 MHz band disabled, as the band was not permitted under the earlier regulatory framework.
• Manufacturers/importers holding such ETA certificates must apply for technical cancellation of the existing ETA and obtain a fresh ETA certificate covering all applicable bands, including 2.4–2.4835 GHz, 5 GHz, and 5925–6425 MHz, as per prescribed procedures.
• Stakeholders must complete the cancellation and fresh certification process within 30 days, and must inform the authority of both old and new ETA numbers via the prescribed email process.
• Until a fresh ETA is issued, the 5925–6425 MHz band must not be enabled, marketed, supplied, or used; any such use will be treated as operation without valid approval and may attract regulatory action
