Commercial ComplianceThe Ministry of Heavy Industries (MoHI) on March 13, 2026, issued a notification regarding the amendment to PMP for N2 and N3 categories of e-Trucks under the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme.

The following has been stated: -

•The PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme was earlier notified by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, with a Phased Manufacturing Programme (PMP) for e-trucks introduced in July 2025 and later amended.

•The latest amendment modifies Sr. No. 8, 9, and 10 of the PMP for N2 and N3 category electric trucks.

•From September 01, 2026, key parts of the traction motor manufacturing process (magnet fitment, rotor/stator assembly, shaft, bearings, connectors, cables, enclosure, etc.) must be manufactured domestically.

•For traction motors integrated with transmission, domestic assembly requirements apply from September 01, 2025, while full manufacturing requirements apply from September 01, 2026.

•The traction motor controller (including inverter) must also be manufactured domestically, with stricter requirements from September 01, 2026, including PCB component assembly and software/firmware flashing in India.
