The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on March 9, 2026 issued a notification under Rule 15(1) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018 announcing the establishment of revised Indian Standards for certain products. The notification was issued by the Bureau functioning under the Department of Consumer Affairs.
Through the notification, BIS established revised standards for Sealing Wax (IS 868:2026), Methyl Bromide (IS 1312:2026), and Annatto Colour for Food Products (IS 2557:2026). These revised specifications update earlier versions of the standards and aim to reflect current technical and quality requirements for the respective products.
The previous standards corresponding to these products will continue to remain in force concurrently until September 6, 2026, after which they will be withdrawn, allowing industry stakeholders time to transition to the updated standards.
