The Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoCI) on March 16, 2026 released the latest Wholesale Price Index (WPI) data for February 2026. The announcement was made through a press release by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade under the ministry.
According to the release, the annual rate of inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index stood at 2.13% (provisional) in February 2026 compared to February 2025. The increase in inflation was primarily driven by higher prices in sectors such as other manufacturing, basic metals, textiles, food articles, and non-food articles. The overall WPI index for all commodities rose to 158.2 in February 2026, compared to 157.8 in January 2026.
Among major groups, Primary Articles recorded 3.27% inflation, Manufactured Products 2.92%, while Fuel & Power continued to show negative inflation at –3.78%. The WPI Food Index inflation stood at 1.85% during the month. The next WPI data release for March 2026 is scheduled for April 14, 2026.
