Industry Specific ComplianceThe Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on March 13, 2026, notified regarding the Implementation of the revised turnover threshold for food businesses.

The following has been stated:

• It states that, based on recommendations of NITI Aayog and approval from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the amendment also introduces provisions for perpetual validity of FSSAI registration and licence, subject to risk-based inspections, and removes dual compliance requirements for street food vendors. 

• Under the revised thresholds, food businesses with turnover up to ₹1.5 crore require registration, those with turnover above ₹1.5 crore and up to ₹50 crore require a State Licence, and businesses with turnover above ₹50 crore require a Central Licence. 

• The revised limits supersede earlier criteria and will come into effect from April 01, 2026.
