The Government of Chhattisgarh on March 09, 2026, issued amendment in the Chhattisgarh Factories Rules, 1962.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In rule 107,-
(1) For Paragraph 3 of Schedule II, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“3. Prohibition relating to women and young persons.- (1) Pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons shall not be employed for working in baths involving Electrolyting, plating or oxidation of metal articles using electrolyte containing acids, bases or salts of metals such as chromium, nickel, cadmium, zinc, copper, silver, gold, etc.
(2) Women and persons other than pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons, may be employed in work specified in the Schedule on such condition that the occupier of every factory carrying out operations under this schedule shall ensure that engineering controls (enclosed system), air monitoring system, use of specialized PPEs including impermeable gloves and face shields, regular medical monitoring, Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of chemicals are as per the Chhattisgarh Factories Rule 124-B and regular safety trainings shall be provided while employing them.”
(2) For Paragraph 3 of Schedule III, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“3. Prohibition relating to women and young persons.- (1) Pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons shall not be permitted to work in process containing lead or any compound of lead relating to manufacture and repair of electrical accumulators or in any room in which manipulation of raw oxide or lead or pasting is carried on.
(2) Women and persons other than pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons, may be employed in work specified in the Schedule on such condition that the occupier of the factory ensures automated processes to minimize direct exposure, regular blood lead level monitoring and regular safety training while employing them.”
(3) For Paragraph 4 of Schedule IV, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“4. Prohibition relating to woman and young persons.- (1) Pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons shall not be employed or permitted to work in any operations relating to glass manufacturing.
(2) Women and persons other than pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons, may be employed in work specified in the Schedule on such condition that the occupier of the factory ensures heat gradient, cooling system, limited exposure period, respiratory protection, heat stress monitoring, engineering controls, rotation programme and regular safety training while employing them.”
(4) For Paragraph 4 of Schedule VI, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“4. Prohibition relating to women and young persons.- (1) Pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons shall not be employed or permitted to work in any operations specified in paragraph 3.
(2) Women and persons other than pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons, may be employed in work specified in the Schedule on such condition that the occupier of the factory ensures automated handling system, enclosed procedures, respiratory protection, monthly blood lead monitoring and other medical surveillance and regular safety training while employing them.”
(5) For Paragraph 1 of Schedule VII, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“1. Prohibition relating to women and young persons.- (1) Pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons shall not be employed or permitted to work or to enter any building where the production of petrol gas from petrol is carried on.
(2) Women and persons other than pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons, may be employed in work specified in the Schedule on such condition that the occupier of the factory provides remote monitoring system, gas detection equipment, emergency response training, self-contained breathing apparatus and regular safety training while employing them.”
(6) For Paragraph 4 of Schedule X, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“4. Prohibition relating to women and young persons.- (1) Pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons shall not be employed or permitted to work in any lead process or related to lead processes in printing presses and type foundries.
(2) Women and persons other than pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons, may be employed in work specified in the Schedule on such condition that the occupier of the factory ensures automation of lead management, enclosure of lead processes, respiratory protection, regular blood tests and regular safety training while employing them.”
(7) For Paragraph 5 of Schedule XII, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“5. (1) Pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons shall not be employed or permitted to work in any place connected with the manufacture of pottery or in any place where such work is carried on.
(2) Women and persons other than pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons, may be employed in the work specified in the Schedule on such condition that the occupier of the factory ensures the use of wet methods for dust abatement, local exhaust ventilation, respiratory protection, lead free glaze where possible and regular safety training while employing them.”
(8) For Paragraph 15 of Schedule XVIII, the following shall be substituted, namely :-
“15. Prohibition relating to women and young persons.- (1) Pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons shall not be permitted to be employed in solvent extraction plant.
(2) Women and persons other than pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons, may be employed in work specified in the Schedule on such condition that the occupier of the factory ensures the use of enclosed extraction system, vapor recovery and monitoring system, air monitoring system, use of special personal protective equipment (PPE) and regular safety training while employing them.”
(9) For Paragraph 8 of Schedule XX, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“8. Prohibition relating to women and young persons.- (1) Pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons shall not be employed or permitted to work in any manganese process involving manufacture and operation of manganese and its compounds.
(2) Women and persons other than pregnant women/lactating mothers/young persons, may be employed in work specified in the Schedule on such condition that the occupier of the factory ensures automation of high-hazard tasks, respiratory protection, health monitoring, use of special personal protective equipment (PPE) and regular safety training while employing them.”
