The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on March 16, 2026, issued the Reserve Bank of India (Small Finance Banks – Financial Statements: Presentation and Disclosures) – Third Amendment Directions, 2026 to further amend the Reserve Bank of India (Small Finance Banks – Financial Statements: Presentation and Disclosures) Directions, 2025.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), exercising its powers under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, has issued Amendment Directions following the introduction of the Risk Based Premium (RBP) Framework by the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) on February 6, 2026. These amendments are considered necessary in the public interest to enhance transparency and compliance in the banking sector.
The key modification relates to disclosure requirements under paragraph 10(14)(vii) concerning the payment of DICGC insurance premium. Banks are now required to disclose in their annual reports whether the applicable deposit insurance premium has been paid within the prescribed timelines. Additionally, details of any arrears in premium payments must also be reported.
If a bank fails to pay the premium within the stipulated timeframe, such delays must be explicitly disclosed, ensuring greater accountability and transparency in financial reporting.
These amended provisions will come into effect from April 01, 2026, and will apply to annual reporting requirements from that date onwards.
