The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on March 16, 2026, issued the Reserve Bank of India (Urban Co-operative Banks – Financial Statements: Presentation and Disclosures) – Third Amendment Directions, 2026 to further amend Reserve Bank of India (Urban Co-operative Banks – Financial Statements: Presentation and Disclosures) Directions, 2025.
The Reserve Bank of India has issued amendment directions following the introduction of the Risk-Based Premium (RBP) Framework by the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation on February 6, 2026. Exercising its powers under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, the RBI deemed these changes necessary in the public interest.
The amendment revises disclosure requirements under paragraph 10(11)(vi) related to the payment of DICGC insurance premiums. Banks are now required to clearly state in their annual reports whether the deposit insurance premium was paid within the prescribed timelines. If there are any delays or arrears in payment, these must also be explicitly disclosed.
These revised disclosure norms aim to improve transparency and accountability in banks’ compliance with deposit insurance obligations. The amendments will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
