The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has computed the retail price of Cefixime 200 mg + Clavulanic Acid 125 mg tablets under Para 5 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, based on market data (MAT) for July 2025. The calculation considers brands having a market share of 1% and above, deriving an average price to ensure price regulation and affordability of essential medicines.
Based on the analysis, several qualifying brands (such as those from major pharmaceutical companies) were included in the computation, while low market-share brands were excluded. The average Price to Retailer (PTR) per unit was calculated and a 16% retailer margin was added to arrive at the ceiling price. The worked-out retail price came to ₹28.29 per tablet (excluding GST), based on weighted averages of qualifying brands.
However, considering the claimed price and regulatory assessment, the proposed retail price has been fixed at ₹25.00 per tablet (excluding GST) for the said formulation manufactured by M/s Purobien Lifesciences and marketed by M/s Unison Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. This price aims to ensure affordability while maintaining market balance.
