EHS ComplianceThe Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on March 3, 2026, issued directions to the governments of Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi to implement a framework for targeted Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaigns aimed at controlling air pollution in the National Capital Region.

The framework focuses on raising awareness and encouraging behavioural change among stakeholders responsible for major pollution sources such as vehicular emissions, road dust, construction and demolition activities, municipal waste burning, agricultural residue burning, industrial emissions, thermal power plants, and diesel generator sets. It recommends targeted outreach programs including workshops, training sessions, digital campaigns, school programs, stakeholder meetings, and community awareness initiatives.

States and authorities have been advised to prepare detailed State-level IEC Action Plans and designate a nodal department or agency to coordinate such activities. Municipal corporations and development authorities in the region are also required to prepare and implement year-round IEC campaigns aligned with sector-specific pollution control strategies to strengthen public participation in air pollution mitigation.
